ET-BAW, MSN 691, was handed over at Toulouse Blagnac on 4 November 2024 and ferried to Addis Ababa (ADD) on 5 November 2024—Africa's first Airbus A350-1000. At nearly 74 meters in length and seating 395 passengers, the aircraft operates Ethiopian's long-haul routes to Frankfurt, London, Paris, and Washington D.C. A "1st A350-1000 in Africa" sticker was applied to the aircraft at delivery. Ethiopian is Africa's largest and fastest-growing airline, serving over 133 destinations across four continents.

Livery & Visual Details

Gloss white fuselage, wings, and nacelles. "Ethiopian" appears in bold red on the forward fuselage; below it, the airline name in Amharic script (የኢትዮጵያ) also in red, with the "Ethiopia — Land of Origins" tagline beneath. A green stylized Africa continent map and yellow lion's head emblem appear near the nose. The vertical stabilizer carries the Ethiopian flag colors—green, yellow, and red horizontal stripes at the top—with a small gold star on the white section below. Wingtips are raked (smoothly swept-back), standard on the A350 family. Engine nacelles are white with dark intake lips.

Model Craftsmanship & Collectibility

Herpa Wings HE538428 is a diecast metal 1:500 release (News III, May/June 2025). The model captures ET-BAW in the standard Ethiopian livery as delivered, with both English and Amharic branding reproduced. Wingspan 130 mm. Rolling gear, no stand. Packaging dimensions: 141 × 40 × 146 mm.
