N7316C, construction number 1649-1018, left Lockheed's Burbank facility in June 1957 as a TWA L-1649A Starliner named "Star of Tigris." After its final TWA passenger service in September 1960 and a conversion to freighter configuration, the aircraft was leased to Alaska Airlines in January 1962 and purchased outright on December 31, 1962. Under Alaska Airlines, N7316C wore the "Golden Nugget Service" livery, a brand tied to the airline's marketing identity rooted in Alaska's gold rush heritage, operating on routes across Alaska including stops at Kotzebue and other remote northern communities.

Livery & Visual Details

The model captures Alaska Airlines' "Golden Nugget Service" scheme: white upper fuselage, gold lower fuselage separated by a bold red cheatline. "ALASKA" appears in large red letters with gold outline on the upper fuselage. The aircraft's distinctive Constellation triple-tail arrangement is white with black leading edges; the two outermost fins each carry a gold circular "GOLDEN NUGGET SERVICE" logo. Four Wright R-3350 Turbo-compound radial engines are fitted in paired nacelles under each wing. The Starliner's signature curved fuselage and triple oval tail fins define the silhouette.

Herpa 573023 renders this piston-era icon in 1:200 scale, released in early 2024. The L-1649A Starliner was the last and longest-range Constellation variant; only 44 were built. N7316C's fuselage has been in long-term restoration and is currently stored in Germany, making an operational-era model the only way to experience the aircraft in its Alaska Airlines colors.
