1:200 Diecast: Aeronica Tupolev Tu-154M YN-CBT "Princesita" (Herpa Wings HE573207)

YN-CBT, MSN 89A821, was delivered to Aeronica—Aerolineas Nicaraguenses—on 20 December 1989, making it one of the last Tu-154Ms acquired by a Central American airline. The aircraft flew Aeronica's routes from Managua International (MGA) through the early 1990s, including international sectors to Mexico City. The name "Princesita" (Little Princess) was painted in blue script on the nose—a Nicaraguan tradition of naming state airline aircraft. The carrier operated this sole Tu-154M alongside DC-3s and An-24s, marking a unique chapter in Soviet-era aircraft exports to Latin America.

Livery & Visual Details

The model displays the striking Aeronica "Rainbow" scheme. The fuselage is gloss white; a multi-color cheatline—light blue, dark blue, green, red, and orange bands—runs along the lower fuselage widening toward the tail, with the same rainbow pattern carried onto the rear engine nacelle fairings. The dark-blue nose cone and black anti-glare cockpit panel contrast with the white upper fuselage. "aeronica" in lowercase blue sans-serif type appears above the rainbow stripe, with a small Nicaraguan flag forward. The registration YN-CBT is on the aft fuselage; the word "Princesita" in blue cursive is visible on the nose. The T-tail vertical stabilizer is white below a gray fin cap, bearing a stylized dark-blue interlocking logo. The aircraft carries the classic Tu-154 configuration: three rear engines (two under-fuselage pylons, one center-tail inlet), no winglets, and traditional blunt wingtips.

Model Craft & Collectibility

Herpa Wings item HE573207 renders this rare piece at 1:200 scale in diecast metal. The Tu-154 mould captures the type's characteristic T-tail, distinctive rear engine cluster, and high-swept wing. At 24 cm model length this is one of the largest pieces in the 1:200 Soviet airliner series. Aeronica operated Nicaragua's only Tu-154M—a single-aircraft type fleet that makes YN-CBT a unique collectible for both Soviet aviation and Latin American airline history specialists.
