1:400 Diecast: USAF Rockwell B-1B Lancer 85-0069 (Geminijets GMUSA096). This specific airframe, serial number 85-0069, has led a surprisingly eventful life across multiple units and even wore a Hollywood-worthy nickname at an airshow. It's one of 100 Lancers built, designed as a long-range, supersonic low-level penetrator with variable-sweep wings capable of carrying the largest payload of any USAF bomber.

Who flew it: The 9th Bomb Squadron at Dyess Air Force Base in Texas operated 85-0069 for many years. The 9th BS, nicknamed the "Bats," is actually the oldest bomb squadron in the Air Force, formed back in June 1917. Records show 85-0069 was part of their fleet, with one source noting its nickname as "Crew Dawg." Photographic evidence also confirms the aircraft was assigned to the 9th Expeditionary Bomb Squadron as recently as February 2017, when it deployed to Andersen Air Force Base in Guam. Later in its career, it wore the markings of the 34th Bomb Squadron at Ellsworth Air Force Base in South Dakota. The 34th BS, known as the "Thunderbirds," has its own remarkable history—crews from this unit flew B-25 Mitchells off the USS Hornet in the Doolittle Raid against Japan in 1942.

A Kansas detour and "Home Improvement": Before its time at Ellsworth, 85-0069 had a stint with the Kansas Air National Guard's 127th Bomb Squadron at McConnell Air Force Base. In August 1999, it made a memorable appearance at the Abbotsford Airshow in Canada. There, it wasn't wearing its usual military markings—it was painted up with the name "Home Improvement," a playful reference to the popular TV show starring Tim Allen. Decal sheets for modelers confirm this scheme as a distinct option for 85-0069, complete with the "Home Improvement" title and Kansas ANG markings. This show appearance gave the bomber a brief moment of pop culture fame.

Where it is now: After its time with the Kansas ANG, 85-0069 transitioned to the 34th BS at Ellsworth. The squadron has been heavily involved in combat operations, including the first-ever B-1 combat mission launched from the US to strike overseas targets during Operation Odyssey Dawn over Libya in 2011. As recently as February 2023, the 34th Expeditionary Bomb Squadron was deployed to Andersen AFB, Guam, for Bomber Task Force missions, integrating with allies in the Indo-Pacific region. The aircraft remains one of the approximately 60 B-1Bs still in active service as of 2025.

About this model: Geminijets released 85-0069 as part of their Gemini MACS (Military Air Command Series) range, capturing the aircraft in its 34th BS "Thunderbirds" markings with the distinctive "Ellsworth" tail flash. At 11.13 cm long with a 10.5 cm wingspan, it features diecast metal construction, realistic panel lines, and permanently extended landing gear. An optional display stand is available separately for in-flight presentation. For collectors of modern USAF bombers, aircraft with documented deployment histories, or those tracking the dwindling B-1B fleet, this represents a piece of the "Bone" legacy that once posed as a TV show star.
