1:400 Diecast: United Airlines Boeing 777-222ER N798UA "Flaps Down" (Geminijets GJUAL2230F)

N798UA is a Boeing 777-222ER with MSN 26928, Line Number 123, delivered to United Airlines on 28 February 1998. The aircraft is powered by two Pratt & Whitney PW4090 engines — a configuration shared with United's original 777-200ER batch. N798UA has operated transcontinental and transatlantic routes throughout its service life with United. This Geminijets release captures the aircraft in the current United livery with flaps in the extended (landing) position, a configuration rarely represented in 1:400 diecast releases.

Livery & Visual Details

The model replicates United's current livery: white fuselage with "UNITED" in large bold blue sans-serif letters on the mid-fuselage below the window line. The vertical stabilizer carries United's "globe" logo — a stylised world map grid in multiple shades of blue, transitioning from dark at the top to lighter tones toward the fin base. Both PW4090 engine nacelles are painted deep blue, matching the darker register of the tail. Registration N798UA and a small US flag appear on the upper rear fuselage. Wingtips are clean swept-back raked extensions with no winglets. Main and nose landing gear are deployed; the trailing-edge flaps are extended in landing configuration — the defining feature of this release.

Model Craft & Collectible Value

Geminijets GJUAL2230F is a limited production run in 1:400 diecast metal. The "Flaps Down" variant uses a separate mould configuration to extend the trailing-edge flap panels, adding significant visual mass to the wing's inner section. Geminijets produces flaps-down releases in limited quantities distinct from the standard gear-down versions; GJUAL2230F documents N798UA specifically, making it pairable with any other United 777 release for a departure/approach diorama. MSN 26928 was delivered in February 1998, placing it in the first substantial tranche of United's 777 expansion fleet.
