1:400 Diecast: QantasLink Airbus A220-300 VH-X4A. This isn't just another white tube with wings—it's the aircraft that marked the beginning of a new era for Qantas. Delivered on December 16, 2023, VH-X4A made the long journey from Airbus' factory in Mirabel, Canada to Sydney, touching down on December 20 after stops in Vancouver, Honolulu, and Nadi. When it finally entered commercial service on March 1, 2024, operating QF1268 from Melbourne to Canberra, it became the first A220 to carry the flying kangaroo.

What makes this model truly special is what's painted on it. VH-X4A wears the 18th "Flying Art Series" livery, titled "Minyma Kutjara Tjukurpa" (Two Women Dreaming). This isn't just a decal job—Airbus spent two weeks in Mirabel with 100 painters applying 130 stencils to create over 20,000 hand-painted dots in 18 colors. The design, created by Balarinji with artist Maringka Baker, tells the story of two sisters traveling across the Australian outback. On a white base, the green and ochre dots absolutely pop.

Aviation enthusiasts might remember February 9, 2025—that's when VH-X4A, operating QF1906 from Sydney to Canberra, hit a bird right after takeoff. The crew did exactly what they were trained to do: turned around, landed safely back in Sydney, and had the aircraft inspected. It was back in the air within 24 hours. That's the kind of real-world history you're holding when you own this model.
