1:400 Diecast: Midwest Airlines Boeing 717-2BL N920ME (Gemini Jets GJMEP1488)
N920ME is a Boeing 717-2BL carrying MSN 55182 (line number 5138), delivered to Midwest Airlines on December 6, 2004. The aircraft operated under the Midwest brand until the airline's wind-down; on November 2, 2009, flight YX210 from Boston (BOS) to Milwaukee (MKE) operated by N920ME was reportedly the last Midwest Airlines flight using a Midwest-branded aircraft. The airframe subsequently transferred to Click Mexicana in January 2010, and later served with Volotea as EI-FBK. Midwest Airlines (IATA: YX, ICAO: MEP) was a Milwaukee-based carrier that operated from 2003 to 2010.
Livery & Visual Details
The model depicts Midwest's distinctive livery: dark navy blue upper fuselage and matching rear-mounted engine nacelles, white lower fuselage separated by a thin red stripe above a thin blue stripe. "MIDWEST" in large white capital letters spans the upper blue fuselage section. The vertical stabilizer features a circular gold emblem with blue radiating lines. Registration N920ME and "Boeing 717" appear in white text on the fuselage. The 717's clean, winglet-free wingtips are reproduced accurately. Two rear-mounted engines flank the tail.
Model Craft & Collectibility
Released by Gemini Jets under item number GJMEP1488 at 1:400 scale in diecast metal. With Midwest Airlines having ceased operations, this model preserves the livery of a defunct US carrier — a collector category with consistent demand from aviation historians and Midwest nostalgia enthusiasts.
