1:400 Diecast: Icelandair Airbus A321neo LR TF-IAA "Esja" (GeminiJets GJICE2337)

TF-IAA, MSN 12213, arrived at Keflavik Airport on December 3, 2024 — the first Airbus aircraft in Icelandair's 87-year operating history. Named "Esja" after the mountain range visible from Reykjavik across Faxaflói bay, the A321-271NX(LR) entered commercial service on December 10, 2024, launching Icelandair's inaugural Airbus routes from Keflavik to Copenhagen and Stockholm. The delivery marked Icelandair's transition from an all-Boeing fleet, adding long-range narrow-body capability for thinner transatlantic and European routes.

Livery & Visual Details

The fuselage is white with "ICELANDAIR" in royal blue across the forward-mid section. Registration TF-IAA and aircraft type designation appear in small black text below the cockpit on the left side. The vertical stabilizer features a royal blue lower section carrying the stylized white bird logo, with the upper trailing edge section painted in bright magenta — the distinctive dual-tone tail identifying Icelandair's new corporate identity. Sharklets are blue on the inner face and magenta on the outer face. Engine nacelles are royal blue overall, consistent with the airline's branding. The nacelle profile is characteristic of Pratt & Whitney PW1100G (GTF) engines. Registration on lower aft fuselage reads icelandair.com in small text. No geographic name (beyond registration) is printed on the exterior of this model.

Model Craft & Collectability

GeminiJets 1:400 diecast metal. GJICE2337 documents a fleet milestone: the first Airbus delivery to Icelandair in the carrier's history, in the naming tradition where Icelandair names aircraft after Icelandic geographic features. The blue-and-magenta new livery marks a departure from the prior blue-and-yellow scheme and represents the current standard identity.
