N859HA started life as a McDonnell Douglas MD-81 (DC-9-81) delivered to Hawaiian Airlines on 11 December 1981, MSN 48074. The aircraft transferred to Frontier Airlines in January 1986 — one of four ex-Hawaiian MD-81s acquired as Frontier tried to compete in the post-deregulation market. Frontier merged into Continental Airlines in October 1986, cutting short the aircraft's brief appearance in Frontier colors. This model captures that narrow 1986 window when N859HA wore the old Frontier livery on Colorado routes.

Geminijets G2FFT1359 renders the late-era Frontier identity in full. The nose cone is painted a solid dark red. A multi-band cheatline runs the length of the fuselage: a thick red band containing the passenger windows, topped by an orange band, with a thinner yellow-orange accent at the boundary with the white upper fuselage. "FRONTIER" is lettered in dark text on the forward fuselage above the cheatline; a stylized red "F" logo appears on the white T-tail. Two Pratt & Whitney JT8D-200 engines are mounted on fuselage pylons at the aft. No winglets — standard MD-81 straight wingtips. Landing gear is retracted.
