The aircraft first flew on 27 March 2012 and was ferried to Xiamen via Honolulu and the Pacific route in April 2012 on delivery. In November 2016, B-5633 was repainted into the SkyTeam alliance special livery—one of a small number of Xiamen Airlines aircraft selected to carry the alliance scheme on behalf of China Southern, a SkyTeam member under whose umbrella Xiamen Airlines operates.
