1:400 Diecast: China Eastern Airlines Boeing 767-3W0ER B-5001 (CW Models CW24009)
Registration B-5001, MSN 28264 (Line Number 644), was delivered to China Yunnan Airlines on 30 January 1997 as a Boeing 767-3W0ER. When Yunnan Airlines merged into China Eastern in April 2003, B-5001 transferred to the parent carrier and operated Kunming-based routes. The aircraft's Rolls-Royce RB211-524H engines — an unusual powerplant pairing for a 767-3W0 airframe — made B-5001 a well-noted subject among spotter communities at Kunming Wujiaba Airport. China Eastern retired B-5001 in October 2011, with the aircraft moving to MIAT Mongolian Airlines as JU-1012.
Livery & Visual Details
The model carries China Eastern's classic pre-2019 livery: white fuselage with a red-and-blue cheatline running from nose to tail. The Chinese characters reading Zhongguo Dongfang Hangkong appear in red on the forward upper fuselage. "CHINA EASTERN" is written in dark blue-black capital letters below the window line. Registration B-5001 appears near the tail above the cheatline. The vertical stabilizer shows China Eastern's stylised swallow emblem in red, blue, and white against a white background. The wing tips are classic straight tips without winglets. Two Rolls-Royce RB211-524H engine nacelles are light grey.
Model Craft & Collectibility
CW Models produced CW24009 in diecast metal at 1:400 scale. The 767-300ER mould with RB211-engine configuration covers a relatively rare production combination. B-5001's two-carrier history — Yunnan and then China Eastern — and its subsequent retirement make this a historically complete subject.
