1:400 Diecast: National Airlines Boeing 727-235 N4753 (AeroClassics AC411482)

N4753, MSN 19473 (Line Number 606), was delivered to National Airlines on 23 July 1968. It served National throughout the carrier's existence until the 1980 merger with Pan American World Airways, after which it continued flying under Pan Am colors before being retired and scrapped at Miami in 1993. National Airlines operated its 727 fleet primarily on domestic US routes including the Florida markets the carrier dominated, making the 727-235 the backbone of its medium-haul network.

Livery & Visual Details

The model wears the classic National Airlines sunburst livery. The upper fuselage is gloss white, with a wide orange cheatline running from nose to tail, topped by a golden-yellow stripe below it. The lower fuselage, wing upper surfaces, and horizontal stabilizers are finished in unpainted bare-metal grey. "NATIONAL" appears in black on the forward cabin. The registration N4753 is printed in black aft of the forward door. The vertical stabilizer is white, carrying National's iconic two-tone sunburst logo in burnt orange and golden yellow. The 727-235 features the classic trijet rear-engine arrangement: two podded nacelles flanking the fuselage and a center-engine S-duct integrated into the tail. No winglets — classic straight wingtips.

Model Craft & Collectibility

AeroClassics AC411482 captures one of the most visually distinctive US domestic liveries of the jet age. The 727-235 is a specific variant for National: the -235 designation denotes National's custom order configuration. AeroClassics' diecast tooling reproduces the T-tail trijet silhouette with the center S-duct intake, a structurally complex feature that distinguishes 1960s-era tooling quality from later releases.
