1:400 Diecast: National Airlines Boeing 727-235 N4733 "Alice" (AeroClassics AC411483)
N4733, MSN 19453 (Line Number 506), was delivered to National Airlines on January 19, 1968. Named Alice, this Boeing 727-235 — the customer-specific sub-variant ordered by National — served the Miami-headquartered trunk carrier until National merged with Pan American World Airways in January 1980. Post-merger, N4733 continued operating under Pan Am before being withdrawn from service and scrapped at Miami in 1991. The aircraft carried JT8D-7B engines on its wing pylons and in the tail-mounted position, the defining trijet configuration of the 727.
Livery & Visual Detail
National Airlines' distinctive 1976-era slanted flag livery: white fuselage with an orange-over-yellow horizontal cheatline at window height. "NATIONAL" appears in large black capital letters on the aft upper fuselage forward of the tail section. The registration N4733 is printed in smaller black text below the cheatline at mid-fuselage. The T-tail vertical stabilizer carries National's half-orange, half-yellow interlocking sun logo — a yin-yang-style design with radiating rays. Wing surfaces are medium grey. Three engines: two underwing nacelles in silver/metallic finish and one S-duct inlet integrated into the aft fuselage. Classic straight wingtips with no winglets.
Model Craft & Collectibility
Produced by AeroClassics under item number AC411483, this model captures N4733 in its National Airlines slanted flag scheme — a livery that only existed from 1976 until the Pan Am merger in early 1980. The Boeing 727-235 trijet configuration, with its T-tail and rear engine cluster, is a visually distinct silhouette not replicated by any current-generation commercial type. National Airlines ceased operations over four decades ago, making any N4733 model a piece of U.S. trunk carrier history.
