1:200 Diecast: Ethiopian Airlines Boeing 720B ET-ABP "Lion of Judah" (AeroClassics AC211405)

ET-ABP carries the story of Ethiopian Airlines entering the jet age. MSN 18977, a Boeing 720B, was delivered to Ethiopian Airlines in December 1962 as part of the carrier's inaugural jet fleet. The 720B inaugurated jet service on January 15, 1963, flying Addis Ababa to Nairobi — making Ethiopian one of the first African carriers to operate jets. ET-ABP wore the full Lion of Judah livery throughout its operational life, a scheme that predates every current Ethiopian livery by decades. AeroClassics produced this as a limited edition of 75 pieces worldwide, numbered accordingly.

The livery is layered and historically accurate. Fuselage upper surfaces are white; the natural metal finish covers the lower fuselage, wings, and horizontal stabilizers. A gold/amber stripe flanked by thin red pinstripes runs the entire window line from nose to tail — Ethiopian's defining 1960s color identity. "ETHIOPIAN" appears in bold dark red above the stripe on the forward fuselage, followed by Amharic script in the same dark red immediately below and aft. The vertical stabilizer carries a simplified Ethiopian tricolor in green, yellow, and red. On both sides of the nose below the cockpit windows, the Lion of Judah emblem is applied — the heraldic lion rampant holding a staff, rendered in gold on the white nose panel. Four JT3D-style engine nacelles hang from the swept 720B wings in polished silver. No winglets — clean classic sweep to standard wingtips. All landing gear is deployed.
