C-GCPA is a Boeing 727-217, MSN 21055 — CP Air's first 727-217, delivered to the Canadian carrier on 20 March 1975. Christened "Empress of the Philippines," the aircraft served CP Air's transpacific and domestic routes through the late 1970s and into the early 1980s before the airline sold it to British carrier Dan Air as G-BKAG in March 1982. CP Air's use of "Empress" names across its fleet was a deliberate echo of Canadian Pacific's earlier ocean liner heritage.
