1:400 Diecast: Austrian Airlines Vickers Viscount 800 OE-LAM "Liechtenstein" (AeroClassics AC411459)

OE-LAM is a Vickers Viscount series 800 carrying MSN 442. The aircraft first flew on 22 July 1960 at Weybridge, Surrey, and was delivered to Austrian Airlines on 31 July 1960. Austrian Airlines named the airframe "Liechtenstein" as part of its regional place-name fleet naming convention for the Viscount fleet. Austrian ordered its Viscount 800 series new from Vickers, with deliveries in 1960–1961, using them to establish scheduled services across European routes from Vienna. The Viscount 800 is powered by four Rolls-Royce Dart 525 turboprop engines.

Livery & Visual Details

The model carries Austrian Airlines' early 1960s colour scheme: white upper fuselage, polished natural metal belly and wings, and a thin red cheatline running the window line. The nose radome is red, seamlessly connecting to the cheatline. The vertical stabilizer is white with a sweeping red band forming the stylised Austrian flag motif. "AUSTRIAN AIRLINES" appears in red italic lettering on the upper fuselage on both sides. The aircraft name "Liechtenstein" is printed in small black script just aft of the cockpit windows. Registration OE-LAM appears on the aft lower fuselage and on the underside of the right wing. Four Dart engine nacelles are polished metal matching the lower airframe. Each engine carries a four-blade propeller with dark blades and yellow/orange safety tips.

Model Craft & Collectibility

Produced by AeroClassics in diecast metal at 1:400 scale. The Viscount 800 represented Austrian Airlines' mainline European equipment in its founding decade — a turboprop type that carried the nascent carrier's identity before the jet age arrived. OE-LAM "Liechtenstein" adds a named-aircraft provenance that deepens the collecting narrative. Model length 6.5 cm / 2.56 in, wingspan 7.1 cm / 2.80 in.
