N272WA is a McDonnell Douglas MD-11, MSN 48437, line number 506. The airframe was owned and operated by World Airways throughout its history, but N272WA flew in full Aer Lingus colors during the summers of 1998 and 2001 on wet-lease to the Irish carrier — operating transatlantic routes including Dublin to Newark. Named "St. Kilian / Cilian," it represented the full extent of Aer Lingus's short-lived widebody tri-jet experiment before the airline focused on narrowbody operations.

Livery & Visual Details

The upper fuselage is deep emerald green from cockpit to tail, the lower fuselage white, separated by a thin teal dividing stripe at the window line. "Aer Lingus" appears in white stylized font on the green forward fuselage. The vertical stabilizer is fully emerald green with a large bright green shamrock. All three engine nacelles — two under-wing and one in the tail — carry the green shamrock on a green band. The upward-curving winglets are emerald green, each bearing a small shamrock on the outer face. An Irish tricolor flag is visible aft of the registration on the rear fuselage.
