1:400 Diecast: Korean Air Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner HL8081 (NG Models NG55147)

HL8081, MSN 34810 (line number 525), was delivered to Korean Air on February 22, 2017, making it the carrier's inaugural Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner — the first Dreamliner operated by any South Korean airline. Built in Charleston, South Carolina, the aircraft flew its delivery ferry from CHS to ICN on the same day. The 787-9 is powered by two GE GEnx-1B turbofans and spans 60.1 metres wing-to-wing, designed specifically for long thin routes that were previously uneconomical. Korean Air launched HL8081 on flights to Jeju during the mandatory domestic certification period before deploying it on international routes.

Livery & Visual Detail

The model replicates Korean Air's current livery: a vibrant light blue fuselage extending from nose to tail, with "KOREAN" in large dark blue sans-serif capitals across the forward cabin. The Taegeuk symbol in dark blue appears on the vertical stabilizer, mirroring the tail design applied to the real aircraft. The registration HL8081 is printed in dark text on the rear fuselage below the window line. Engine nacelles carry a small Taegeuk logo on the inner face. The 787-9's characteristic raked wingtips are rendered in white, flush with the wing planform — no discrete winglet attachment point, as is accurate for this aircraft type.

NG Models NG55147 captures HL8081 in Korean Air's refreshed 2025 livery on the 787-9 mould, released in late 2025. Diecast metal construction with antenna detail and rolling gear included, no stand. Dimensions: approximately 15.74 cm length × 14.98 cm wingspan.
