P-552 is a Tupolev Tu-154B with MSN 76A143, manufactured in 1976 and delivered to Air Koryo — the sole commercial carrier of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea — on June 1, 1978. The aircraft carries the 1970s-era Chosunminhang (조선민항) livery predating the Air Koryo branding that came into wider recognition in later decades. Still catalogued as active in recent years, P-552 is among the longest-lived Tu-154 airframes still associated with a commercial carrier. Western collectors rarely access North Korean aviation memorabilia.

Livery & Visual Detail

White upper fuselage above a light grey belly. A thick red cheatline bordered by thin dark navy blue stripes runs nose to tail. The nose cone is deep gloss black. Korean script reading "조선민항" (Chosunminhang) appears on the forward fuselage above the cheatline. Registration P-552 is printed in black on the rear fuselage. The vertical stabilizer carries the North Korean state emblem: a dark navy rectangle with a central red stripe and a five-pointed red star. Red accent tips on the vertical stabilizer, horizontal stabilizers, and wingtips. Three engines — one in the tail empennage, two on wing-root pylons. Classic raked wingtips, no winglets. Landing gear deployed, static.

NG Models NG54011 is cast in diecast metal at 1:400 scale, representing NG's Tu-154B mould — a dedicated release for this Soviet trijet type. The three-engine rear cluster, T-tail, and swept-wing geometry are faithfully reproduced. Releases of North Korean aviation subjects at 1:400 scale remain infrequent; P-552 in the 1970s livery is one of the few available options for collectors building a complete socialist-era carrier display.
