B-605U carries MSN 138 and was delivered to Air China in June 2020 as one of the carrier's early COMAC C909 (ARJ21) aircraft. On July 1, 2025, this exact aircraft — B-605U — operated the C909's first commercial international flight from China, departing Hohhot Baita Airport for Chinggis Khan International Airport in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia, with 74 passengers aboard. The flight received a water cannon salute on arrival, marking the debut of a Chinese-built regional jet on an international scheduled service.

Livery & Visual Details

The fuselage is white with a blue horizontal stripe that curves upward near the nose. The vertical stabilizer carries the red Air China phoenix emblem. "AIR CHINA" appears in blue on the forward fuselage, followed by the Chinese characters "中国国际航空公司" below it. "C909" is printed near the cockpit nose in blue. The registration "B-605U" is visible on the mid-fuselage above the wing root. The C909 has two rear-mounted turbofan engines with white nacelles and silver exhaust nozzles. The wingtips feature upward-curved winglets with a small red accent at the tip.
