1:400 Diecast: Airbus BelugaXL A330-700L F-WBXL "First Flight Livery" (NG Models NG60018)

F-WBXL was the test registration assigned to BelugaXL No. 1 — MSN 1824 — which made the type's maiden flight on 19 July 2018 from Toulouse-Blagnac. This was the first time the A330-700L configuration, with its radically enlarged upper cargo lobe, flew under its own power. The aircraft carries two Rolls-Royce Trent 700 engines and was developed by Airbus Transport International as the successor to the A300-600ST Beluga, adding 30% more cargo volume capacity. MSN 1824 completed its test programme and later re-entered service in June 2024 as F-GXLG.

Livery & Visual Detail

NG60018 captures the initial first-flight livery — the markings F-WBXL carried on 19 July 2018. The fuselage is white with "AIRBUS" in blue and "BELUGA" in dark blue on the forward section; the mid-aft fuselage carries the light-grey "XL" large-format graphic. The vertical stabiliser presents the deep-to-light blue wave pattern with orange trim at the horizontal tail. The nose retains the BelugaXL's characteristic smiling-whale appearance — the black curved mouth line below the cockpit windows and the round eye markings. This first-flight version carries the "First Flight" identifier markings, distinguishing it from NG60019 (revised test livery). Sharklet wingtips; white Trent 700 nacelles. Landing gear extended.

NG Models released NG60018 alongside NG60019 in June 2022, both representing the original F-WBXL airframe at different phases of testing. The first-flight livery documents the exact configuration on the day BelugaXL history began — a moment directly relevant to anyone collecting Airbus programme milestones. The A330-700L mould, unique to the BelugaXL among 1:400 toolings, makes these models structurally unlike any other aircraft in a standard collection.
