B-1789 is a Boeing 737-89P(WL), MSN 41472, delivered to China Eastern Yunnan Airlines on 25 April 2015. The aircraft operates under the China Eastern group's Yunnan subsidiary, based at Kunming Changshui International Airport and routinely deployed on routes such as MU742 Kunming–Bangkok. B-1789 wears the "Yunnan Peacock" special livery in its orange variant — one of several China Eastern Yunnan narrowbodies painted to represent the peacock, a symbol of Yunnan province's Dai ethnic culture and natural landscape. The sub-registration text "司公南雲" (Yunnan Company) is visible aft of the registration.

White base fuselage. The aft fuselage and tail carry a sweeping orange, blue, and yellow peacock-feather motif with stylised "eye" medallion detail — the signature Yunnan Peacock pattern. A multi-colour wave band in orange, green, and red runs along the lower fuselage forward into the nose area where a blue stylised bird or cloud pattern appears. The text "CHINA EASTERN" in standard lettering and the Chinese characters reading "中國東方航空" at the nose; "B-1789" and "司公南雲" aft. Vertical tail carries the China Eastern swallow logo. Winglets confirmed on both wingtips with China Eastern swallow badge on the inboard face. Engine nacelles white with minimal markings. Static display.
