PP-SMA (MSN 20092, Line Number 161) holds a place in South American aviation history as the first Boeing 737 delivered to Brazil — and widely regarded as the first in Latin America. VASP took delivery on 18 July 1969, seven years before Latin American competitors operated the type. The aircraft flew two Pratt & Whitney JT8D-17 engines mounted in the characteristic low-slung "stovepipe" pods of the original 737 series. PP-SMA remained in VASP service until December 2004, when it was stored at Belo Horizonte Confins. The airline itself ceased operations on 27 January 2005, making this aircraft one of the last survivors of the original fleet.

Livery & Visual Detail

The model carries VASP's late-era internet livery, identified by the "www.vasp.com.br" URL printed in dark grey above the window line. The forward fuselage displays bold blue "VASP" lettering. A bright blue cheatline runs from the nose along the lower fuselage and fills the entire vertical stabilizer. The tail features the airline's stylized circular V-logo in white and green on yellow. A small Brazilian flag sits aft of the cockpit windows. Classic straight wingtips — no winglets, consistent with original 737-200 production. Model Craft & Collectibility

JC Wings produced XX20510 as a 1:200 diecast metal release in a limited production run. The mould replicates the -200's JT8D nacelles and straight-wing profile with tampo-printed livery detail. The stand base carries "VASP / BOEING 737-200 / SCALE 1:200" in blue. For collectors tracking early 737 variants outside North American fleets, PP-SMA represents one of the oldest continuously documented 737-200 histories.
