N861BC carries MSN 32336, Line Number 422. The airframe was built as a 777-212ER and delivered to Singapore Airlines as 9V-SVL on November 26, 2002. Singapore operated the aircraft until March 2018, when Boeing Capital Corporation acquired it as N817BC. It subsequently served with Air New Zealand as ZK-OKI and Surinam Airways as PZ-TCU before returning to Boeing for the ecoDemonstrator programme. Re-registered N861BC, it debuted the 2022 ecoDemonstrator livery — marking ten years since Boeing launched the flight research programme — and appeared publicly at EAA AirVenture Oshkosh in July 2022.

Livery & Visual Detail

The livery transitions from white at the nose through gradient bands of light blue to a deep dark blue at the tail. Below the window line from mid-fuselage aft, dynamic white and light blue swirling graphics include a starburst element. "ecoDemonstrator" appears in a teal stylised font below the cockpit on the starboard side, with the BOEING wordmark in blue alongside. Multiple corporate partner logos appear in white along the fuselage within the blue gradient. On the inboard engine nacelle, a large white "10" with a green-leaf motif and the text "10 YEARS ANNIVERSARY" documents the programme milestone. The vertical stabilizer carries a white circular logo against the dark blue fin. The model is the "Flaps Down" variant — flap surfaces are deployed. Wingtips are classic raked style, consistent with the early 777 series.
