N747EX carries MSN 35808 (line number 1420) and holds a unique position in aviation history: it is the first Boeing 747-8 Freighter ever built, taking its maiden flight on 8 February 2010 from Paine Field, Everett, Washington. The aircraft is officially designated a 747-8R7F and was flown in Boeing's own test and certification program before production freighters entered customer service. It never left Boeing's ownership and remains identifiable as the 747-8F's proving aircraft.
