1:500 Diecast: Royal Netherlands Air Force McDonnell Douglas KDC-10 Extender T-264 "Prins Bernhard" (Herpa Wings 538374)

T-264, MSN/c.n. 46985, rolled off the Douglas production line in October 1978 and flew commercial service with KLM-subsidiary Martinair before the Royal Netherlands Air Force converted it into a KDC-10-30CF tanker-transport. Taken on charge on September 29, 1995, T-264 served with 334 Squadron at Eindhoven Air Base for over two decades on NATO refueling missions, humanitarian airlifts, and peacekeeping deployments. Together with T-235, T-264 was upgraded in 2013. The Dutch Air Force retired both KDC-10s around 2019–2021, naming T-264 "Prins Bernhard" in honor of the former Inspector-General of the Dutch armed forces.

Livery & Visual Details

The model captures the original 1995 delivery color scheme: white fuselage, a straight dark blue horizontal stripe below the window line with small dot accents along its edges, and a white vertical stabilizer bearing "RNLAF" in black. The fuselage forward of the wing carries "ROYAL NETHERLANDS AIR FORCE" in black block letters, followed by a small Dutch tricolor flag. The tail serial "T-264" appears on the rear fuselage and the tail-mounted engine fairing, alongside a Dutch roundel in red, white, and blue. The aircraft sports classic straight wingtips without any winglets or sharklets. Three GE CF6-50C2-powered nacelles — two underwing, one embedded at the tail fin base — are finished in light silver-grey.

Herpa Wings 538374 is part of a limited three-model series issued to mark the retirement of the KC-10 Extender. Diecast metal construction at 1:500 scale, with rolling landing gear and no stand. Wingspan measures 101 mm. Released February 2026.
