1:500 Diecast: UPS Boeing 727-200F N207UP (Herpa HE537957)
N207UP carries MSN 21699, line number 1485. PlaneLogger records show the aircraft joined UPS on 6 June 1985. UPS Airlines was formally established in 1988, but had operated leased 727-200 freighters for several years prior through its cargo division. N207UP — a 727-247/Adv(F) variant, the "Advanced" series with Pratt & Whitney JT8D-217 engines and higher maximum take-off weight — was among the type that built UPS's domestic overnight cargo network before the airline's official launch. The aircraft has since left the fleet.
Livery & Visual Details
Period UPS livery: clean white fuselage with a single dark brown horizontal band running the full fuselage length at lower-window level, continuous with the all-brown vertical tail and T-tail horizontal stabilisers. "United Parcel Service" in black lettering on the upper forward fuselage. The UPS shield logo with gold "UPS" lettering appears on the vertical tail. Registration N207UP in black on the aft fuselage. Wings in unpainted metallic silver. The 727-200's three-engine rear-mount layout is fully modelled: two JT8D nacelles on aft fuselage pylons, one through-fuselage centre engine with the characteristic S-duct inlet at the vertical tail root. Classic 727 straight wingtips without winglet devices.
Model Craft & Collectibility
Herpa's 1:500 727 tooling remains a reliable vehicle for 727 freighter releases. The 727-200F occupied a decisive role in American domestic express cargo history; UPS-branded examples at 1:500 scale attract both airline model collectors and logistics-history enthusiasts. Diecast alloy construction.
