Serial 68-0226 is a Lockheed C-5A Galaxy assigned to the 105th Military Airlift Group, 137th Military Airlift Squadron, New York Air National Guard, based at Stewart Field. The C-5A program delivered its first aircraft to the USAF in 1969; the 68-prefix batch entered service in fiscal year 1968 contracts. New York ANG C-5As operated the type for decades on strategic airlift missions including humanitarian operations and Department of Defense cargo movements across Atlantic and Pacific routes.
