VT-ANU carries MSN 36292, a Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner delivered to Air India in February 2015. The aircraft subsequently received the Star Alliance special colour scheme — one of the handful of 787s worldwide to wear the alliance livery — and operated Air India's long-haul routes to Europe and Australia under this distinctive grey-white scheme. Air India joined Star Alliance in 2014; VT-ANU became the most photographed ambassador of that membership.
