1:400 Diecast: CP Air Boeing 727-200 C-GCPB "Empress of Los Angeles" (AeroClassics AC411480)
C-GCPB, a Boeing 727-217/Adv, carries MSN 21056 (line number 1122). Delivered new to CP Air on 8 April 1975, the aircraft was named "Empress of Los Angeles"—part of CP Air's practice of naming its 727 fleet after cities served. It operated CP Air's domestic and international routes from Vancouver for nearly eight years before being sold to Dan-Air London as G-BKNG on 1 February 1983. AeroClassics item AC411480 documents C-GCPB in CP Air's distinctive 1970s livery at 1:400 scale.
Livery & Visual Details
The model presents CP Air's signature two-tone scheme: a vibrant tangerine-orange upper fuselage contrasting with a polished silver-grey lower fuselage. A deep maroon stripe runs horizontally along the fuselage, separating the two tones below the cabin windows. "CPAir" is printed in white lettering on the silver nose section below the cockpit. The aircraft registration C-GCPB appears in white on the orange upper rear fuselage. The vertical stabilizer is white with a stylised maroon-and-white geometric logo. The trijet layout is clearly rendered: two underwing nacelles in grey and the characteristic centre engine integrated at the tail base. Wingtips are classic and blunt, as standard for the 727-200. The aircraft name "Empress of Los Angeles" is visible on the forward fuselage.
Model Craftsmanship & Collectibility
The Boeing 727-200 served CP Air as the backbone of medium-haul operations through the 1970s. AeroClassics captures the 727's rear-engine trijet silhouette in diecast metal at 1:400, including the T-tail and the central tail engine intake above the fuselage junction. The orange-and-silver CP Air livery is a strong visual differentiator within any Canadian carrier collection, and the named aircraft status of "Empress of Los Angeles" gives C-GCPB an additional identifier beyond the registration.
