1:200 Diecast: Braniff International Douglas DC-8-55 N8277H "Panagra Transition" (AeroClassics AC211435)

N8277H, MSN 45277 Line 94, was delivered new to Pan American-Grace Airways (Panagra) in September 1960. When Braniff acquired Panagra in February 1967, this aircraft passed to Braniff International along with the rest of Panagra's DC-8 fleet. For a brief period it operated with a hybrid scheme: Braniff titles applied over the remaining Panagra paint, creating what collectors call the "Panagra Transition" livery — a documentation of the merger moment in paint. N8277H was later re-registered as N1802 and repainted in Braniff's Alexander Girard color scheme, supporting Latin American and US domestic routes before eventually being retired.

Livery & Visual Details

White upper fuselage with a bright yellow horizontal stripe running along the full window line, bordered above and below by thin black lines. Below the yellow stripe the fuselage transitions to bare metallic silver. "BRANIFF INTERNATIONAL" in black uppercase letters above the yellow stripe. Vertical stabilizer is white with a large bold "BI" logo and small American flag. All four engine nacelles are metallic silver with polished intake lips. Classic straight DC-8 wingtips.

AeroClassics AC211435 is a 1:200 scale die-cast metal model — a scale that allows significantly more detail than 1:400, including pad-printed markings, diecast metal wings and tail, surface panel lines, antenna detail, and permanently extended metal landing gear with rolling rubber tires. AeroClassics 1:200 releases are produced in extremely limited quantities, making sold-out status the norm shortly after release.
