1:400 Diecast: Alitalia Boeing 727-243 I-DIRB "Città di Siracusa" (AeroClassics AC411419)

I-DIRB, a Boeing 727-243 Advanced carrying MSN 21268 (line 1229), was delivered to Alitalia on December 20, 1976, named "Città di Siracusa" — the City of Syracuse, continuing the Italian carrier's tradition of naming aircraft after cities. The 727-243 is Alitalia's customer-specific variant of the 727-200 Advanced. I-DIRB was one of the first seven 727-200 frames that arrived for the Rome carrier beginning in late 1976, filling routes across Europe and the Mediterranean through the late 1980s.

Livery & Visual Details

The model wears Alitalia's classic green-stripe scheme: gloss white fuselage with a single dark green cheatline running along the window line. "Alitalia" is lettered in stylised bold black font on the upper forward fuselage. The black nose cone is a distinctive visual anchor. The vertical stabilizer carries the Alitalia logo on a white background — a stylised green "A" outlined in green with a red wedge element. The underwing engine nacelles are in natural metal silver finish; the text "BOEING 727-200" is printed in very small black letters on the visible nacelle side. Three JT8D-17 engines: two underwing plus one tail-mounted. Classic straight 727 wingtips. A red navigation light is visible at the right wingtip. Landing gear deployed and static.
