The GDR was the second-largest IL-62 customer after Aeroflot, taking 21 airframes in total. DDR-SEO was among the later IL-62Ms delivered before 1986, replacing older IL-62s and IL-18s on the fleet. A small East German flag appears at the top of the fin. The nose radome is dark grey. Four turbojet engines mounted in pairs on pylons flanking the rear fuselage, characteristic of all IL-62 variants.
